تعریف Article:
Article یا حرف تعریف به کلماتی گفته می شود که قبل از اسم می آیند و مشخص یا نامشخص بودن آن اسم را معین می کنند.
انواع حروف تعریف:
Article ها به سه دسته تقسیم می شوند که عبارتند از:
حروف تعریف معرفه (Definite Articles)
حروف تعریف نکره (Indefinite Articles)
اسامی بدون حرف تعریف (Zero Articles)
Definite Articles:
حرف تعریف معین The می‌باشد و زمانی استفاده می‌شوند که :
1_ زمانی که چیزی که درباره ی آن صحبت می‌شود برای شنونده، گوینده و یا هر دو مشخص است.
مثال:
I really didn’t enjoy the movie.
He is at the office right now.
I read the text book.
2_ زمانی که درباره‌ی چیزی منحصر به فرد صحبت می‌کنیم.
مثال:
The sun shines brightly today.
The moon looks magical with it’s silver glow.
The earth is occupied by so many wonderful creatures.
3_ زمانی که درباره‌ی اسامی خاص (اسامی شهرها،رودخانه ها،اشخاص و…) صحبت می کنیم.
مثال:
The pacific ocean is very large.
The amazon is a beautiful forest.
The Eiffel tower is an important tourist attraction.
4_ از صفات تقضیلی مضاعف (Double comparatives) استفاده می‌کنیم.
مثال:
The more, the merrier.
The more I think about it, the more confused I get.
5_ از صفات عالی استفاده می‌کنیم.
مثال:
No one addressed the most important issue.
I bought the most expensive dress they had in their store.
He has the fastest car that has been built to this day.
6_ هنگامی که از اعداد ترتیبی استفاده می‌کنیم.
مثال:
The first person to point that out was the one who was quite for most of the meeting.
I live on the second floor.
The third person in the row was getting impatient.
indefinite articles:
این حروف شامل a و an می باشند و زمانی استفاده می‌شوند که:
1_ برای اولین بار به چیزی اشاره می‌کنیم.
مثال:
I saw a dog in the street last night.
He ate an apple.
I received a letter from an unknown person.
2_ درباره‌ی چیزی یا کسی که اطلاعاتی درباره اش نداریم صحبت می‌کنیم.
مثال:
She saw a shadow.
A man was laughing.
a bag was just thrown there.
3_ درباره‌ی حرفه یا شغل کسی صحبت می‌کنیم.
مثال:
He wants to become an engineer.
We need to hire a secretary.
You should see a therapist.
4_ درباره‌ی بیماری ها صحبت می‌کنیم. البته flue استثنا می باشد و the flue نوشته می شود.
I had stomachache last night.
Do you have a sore throat?
She said she had a headache.
Zero articles:
در برخی موارد نیازی به استفاده از حرف تعریف قبل از اسم نیست. به این اسامی، اسامی بدون حرف تعریف گفته می‌شود. در موارد زیر نیازی به حروف تعریف نیست.
1_ اسم افراد:
Maria is very kind.
Jack borrowed my notes.
Sara is my childhood friend.
2_ صفات ملکی:
I left my bag in the class.
you should talk to your parents.
She enjoys her friend’s company.
3_ هنگامی که به طور کلی درباره ی اسامی قابل شمارش جمع و اسامی غیر قابل شمارش صحبت می‌کنیم.
مثال:
phones have become an important part of our lives.
companies should give their employees a fair salary.
water is essential for our survival.
4_ هنگامی که درباره‌ی ملیتها و یا زبانها صحبت می‌کنیم.
مثال:
Is she Italian?
Do you speak German?
I need to learn French.
5_ هنگام استفاده از اسامی روزها،ماه‌ها و تعطیلات.
مثال:
We are planning to visit her in June.
They go there every Sunday.
Do you celebrate Christmas?
6_ قبل از وعده‌های غذایی نیازی به حروف تعریف نیست.
I had breakfast at 6Am.
Let’s eat lunch.
Have you had dinner?
7_ قبل ار عناوین و یا القاب اشخاص از حرف تعریف استفاده نمی شود.
مثال:
duchess Miranda visited the palace last week.
Doctor Luis said the medicine was working and she was fine.
